Roof Repair in Pittsburgh: What It Costs and When Repair Beats Replacement
Most Pittsburgh roof repairs run $150–$1,500 — this guide explains when repair makes sense and when replacement is the smarter call.
Old windows leak air, spike your energy bills, and let in road noise.
Old windows leak air, spike your energy bills, and let in road noise — three problems that compound every year you wait. Modern replacement windows with insulated glass and low-E coatings address all three at once, and most homeowners notice the difference within the first full heating season. We've completed 220+ projects across the Pittsburgh area using our own crew — the same people who quoted the job show up to do the work, and every installation ends with a written warranty before we close out.

Single-pane and aged double-pane windows fail on three fronts simultaneously: heat loss in winter, humidity infiltration in summer, and road noise year-round. Modern replacement windows with insulated glass units (IGUs) and low-E coatings address all three. Most homeowners see a measurable drop in heating and cooling costs within the first full season — and the noise reduction from laminated or triple-pane glass is immediate if you live near a highway or busy corridor.
On resale, replacement windows are one of the highest-ROI exterior improvements a homeowner can make. Buyers notice updated windows. Inspectors flag original single-pane units. Getting ahead of that conversation with properly installed, energy-rated windows is a smart long-term move regardless of your timeline for selling.
Insert replacement fits a new window unit into the existing frame — less disruption, lower cost, and the right choice when the existing frame is structurally sound with no rot or moisture damage. Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening and installs a complete new unit, frame included. Full-frame is required when frames are rotted, out of square, or when you want to change the window size or style.
We assess each opening before recommending. A crew that defaults to full-frame on every job is adding cost you may not need. A crew that defaults to insert when the frame is compromised is setting you up for a callback. We tell you which approach makes sense for each window and why, in writing, before any work begins.
Step 1 — Free On-Site Estimate
We visit your home, assess each window opening, check frame condition, and discuss your energy and budget goals. You’ll know exactly what you’re getting before we start.
Step 2 — Window Selection & Order
We help you choose the right window style, glass package, and frame material for each opening. Custom sizes are ordered to fit—no filler strips or hacks.
Step 3 — Prep & Protection
On install day, we protect interior surfaces and remove old windows carefully to avoid damage to drywall or trim.
Step 4 — Installation & Air Sealing
Each window is set level and plumb, shimmed properly, and sealed with low-expansion foam and exterior caulk. No gaps, no drafts.
Step 5 — Cleanup & Walkthrough
We haul off the old windows and debris. Then we walk you through every window—operation, locks, tilt-in cleaning—before we pack up.
Most residential replacements are completed in one to two days. We clean up completely each day and haul away all old windows and packaging. You get copies of all warranties — both manufacturer and our workmanship guarantee — before we close out the job.

ROOF RELIABILITY SCORE
Leak prevention & weather resistance.
Most single window replacements run $400–$800 installed, depending on size, style, and glass package. Full-frame replacements cost more than insert replacements. We give you a written quote per window so you know the exact cost before we start.
If your existing frame is square, solid, and rot-free, insert replacement is usually the right call. If the frame is rotted, out of square, or you want to change the rough opening size, full-frame is the way to go. We check every window during the estimate.
We recommend Low-E glass with argon fill at minimum. Low-E coatings reflect heat back into the room in winter and block solar heat gain in summer. Argon between the panes adds thermal resistance. Triple-pane is available for maximum performance near highways or in very exposed locations.
Most installs run one to two days depending on the number of windows. We order windows to size in advance, so there's minimal time with openings exposed. We work efficiently and leave your home weather-tight each day.
Yes. Demo and disposal of old windows is included. We leave the job site clean.
Replacement makes sense when the frame is rotted, the window is single-pane original glass, seals have failed on multiple units, or hardware repairs would exceed 50% of a new window's cost. If the frame is sound and only the glass or hardware needs work, repair is almost always more cost-effective.
